intern!

ended the long 9weeks!
very thankful for the opportunity
to be attached to this company
and to the building side.
yes, i see and measure more than just concrete, formwork, rebars.
hehe

the exposure to 3 different sites was excellent also.
giving me views of SG, views of sub-urban SG, and small view of JB?
giving me views of steel structure works, foundation works, and finishing works stages.

but
walking on rebars was still a prob.
but it got better as long as i stay firm. 勇敢地踏下去！

staircase was another prob.
going up the temporary staircase was fine,
but going down is scary.
when the thread length was shorter than the length of my boots.
catladder also.
esp temporary ones.
my legs were so so jelly when i finally reached the ground.
没有用！

working with the jap was also a prob.
but this is what we called cultural exchange mah! lol
although i complained that there bound to be a lot of miscommunication,
i realised that this can happen in many other companies too.
coz the team will sure made up of many different nationalities.

exposure to the smokess is one thing i need to tahan, i guess.
but im v glad that some of them had quit smoking. =)))

would rmb the advices that they gave.
and i would keep to my small little promise.
hahaha

虽然有些时候真的不知道他们在说什么，还笨笨的猛点头。。。
虽然问他们一些问题，他们的回答也是让我一头雾水，还照样地点头。。
虽然其中一位给的讲课让我真的很想很想睡觉。。(这不是他的错，是吃饱后的错。）
可是我还是看得出他们的用心， from the very first day. =))

not just the jap, the whole site pple was very nice, and fun-loving.
the occasional playing/fooling ard in the office,
and the frequently heard laughters
should be the right office SOP!
and not each person doing their work silently..

oh and the office layout is one tt i quite like.
site #1 was tooo cramped.
site #2 was tooo spacious.
site #3 just nice.
even have a first aid room with a bed inside.
though not very tempting. haha
and they have 4 grandfather clocks around.
which 叫 every 15 mins.
so that we wont miss our lunch, tea break and 下班！
=))

really learned a lot at this site.
afterall, we were exposed to many many different departments,
we ought to learn more than other sites.
hahah

and while bidding goodbye to the security guard.
Security guard: so how? learn everything?
me: no, we still have a lot to learn!.
which is very very true!.
haha, so impressed by my impromtu answer. lol.

cant believe i actually brought the work home.
the current work is not difficult, but just tedious.
and i dunno if im right by measuring until so accurate..

and becoz im very very very slow,
i dunno if im able to finish it by thursday.
and there's still another measurement coming up.
i need to clear all by thursdayyy..!

lovely lovely lovelyyy!
low expectation was goood!
initally i was thinking that 一site 不如一site,
and we wld be left alone.
coz the previous site had told us going there is like gg prison.
no food and drink, and have to climb up flights of stairrrsssss.
but it turned out reallly goood.
the boss greeted us by our name
super shocking.
went in the office, saw the set of abit unusual ppe,
and sets of notes and a nicely printed schedule for us to follow.
lovely.
oh and together with a mineral bottle,
means to tell us the strict policy of no foood and drink in the premise.
lol

the work schedule was greeeaaatt. =))

glad that it ended.
the site canteen food was quite bad.
so I chose to tabao from outside.
din learn much from there.
only spoke to the boss twice.
hi on the first day, bye on the last day.
but i uds la, coz they were really busy at tt stage.
and since they bribed me with chocolates and a weird shirt,
i shall not complain.
i shld be thankful, as they gave me the time to do my own stuff.

site number 2!

one word: big big BIG!
previous site was big vertically,
this is big horizontally!
its like 10-13 football fields!
even the office is bigger than the previous one.
=))
but we were quite invisible there.

last time, see high rise buildings around.
now, there's only trees and grasses around.

ended my attachment with the first site!
truly fortunate to be part of this project. hahaha =))
maybe not getting to the civil team is a blessing in disguise!
although i still v much wanted to go to the mrt site.. and maybe the expressway.
but heard from the civil team, things weren't that good at their side.

so i shld be happy with my choice bah! =))
and this site is located at raffles place area.
im loving that place! hahaha
there's good food around(the hot and spicy curry chicken, and western grilled fish oooh), and i can always get drinks, bubble tea anytime i want.
and i always get a seat on the train to and fro somemore!
yala, i'm one of those that stand at the platform at yishun and rush forward when the empty train comes. hahaha
but sadly, im those who couldnt really zzz on trains.
so the train ride to work was super lonnngggg.
but back home was fast, i dunno why. hahaha

the good thing about the work at the site office.
- we were visible.
- they were really willing to teach and the people there were really nice, not much of attitude problem kind.
- dpm was really keen on giving what we wanted to learn.
- my work was taken seriously.
- get to go up the viewing gallery many times!
- was given a seat in the room (the only room apart from meeting room).. hehehe. and so best thing is, nobody can see my lappy, except my partner.

the not-so-good thing:
- maybe is the location of the office? it was located on the rooftop, so have to walk pass the m&e services to get to office, and if it rains, then suay lo. but it didn't really rain heavily when i was there. and my seat was, i think, on top of some m&e services also, coz the floor wld suddenly vibrate..
- the super cramped office. have to go zig zag zig zag before i get to my room. 我还一度觉得腰痛。
- have to bring own lappy. =.=

update nx time! =))

back!

after a near 5mth hiatus! came in,and saw some of my drafts, and i have 2 drafts with title, yet nth inside! have long forgotten what i wanted to write in that 2 drafts.

anw, started on internship! =))
and i think my worst worst 缺点(or is it only one? lol) is being forgetful!

monday - start work, forgot to bring socks along, but then this is okay.
tuesday - forgot to bring phone(!), calculator. and doing measurement, forgot about formwork.!
wed - forgot to bring mouse
thurs onwards - i forgot what i forgot to bring.

so for the past 1 week, was at the headquarter.
and i realised hw much i missed working at my old workplace 3 years ago.
the whole atmosphere is very different, it was not lively at the hq, was super quiet when everyone is doing their work, then lunchtime, offwork, people just went off silently. =.=
the sitting arrangement was also different, here is super open door concept, as in there's only one room for the big shot. and other GMs sit together with the fellow managers. nearly everyone can see my comp, and my in-charge is sitting on my left , another in-charge right in front of me, another in-charge on my right. 前,左右围攻! so scary, and so i ended up seeking refuge at the other interns everytime i feel bored or feel sleepy.

and i guess we actually missed out on many site visits for the first week. the task that was given to us for the one week was not what we really wanted. though it was something we din really learn in sch. but nvm, one week only. for the rest of 8 weeks, its site time! =)))
